djSquiggles and MC Obliquity-Live at the Forbidden Fruit Festival
Here is my first set after my “retirement”. It has MC Obliquity, who has been MC’ing for me for the last few years. We’re gonna be working together more often in the future and you can look forward to hearing him on future sets. I haven’t DJ’ed in months and basically, I haven’t practiced much either. This turned out pretty good except for when the bass got a bit heavy and it started skipping the Mini Disc recorder. So, bare with the recording if it gets iffy in some spots. It was a fun set to play and the crowd seemed to enjoy themselves. I ended up playing a bit longer since the dj after me was setting up. All in all, it was a good bouncy set!

This is the newest mix in a really long time! I didn’t really know what to call it so, I named it after the last two parties that I played at. I played similar sets at both shows so, it made sense. This was fun to make and was really fun to play out. As usual, since most of these tunes are kinda newish, I’m not going to include the tracklisting for a few months.

Both Jesse and I were booked to play at a party in Chicago. Not together but at the same party. We were all ready to go and play until our lovely girlfriends had to remind us that we were supposed to go to weddings on the day of the show. So, we had to back out because of this obligation. Stupid, I know! We decided to do a collaboration mix and this is what we got. The first 30 minutes is some banging Hardcore and the last 30 is some bouncy stuff that I tried to play as fast as I could.

DjSquiggles vs Elekid-Live at Halloween Trinity
This was recorded in a cornfield in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Elekid is one of my favorite dj’s to do a tag set with. We’ve done a few live sets together and apparently this is the only one where the recording turned out right. I remember walking in the dark to get to the stage and then stepping into a ditch and spraining my ankle. That didn’t slow me down. It was a wicked set nonetheless!

I’d have to say that this is probably one of my favorite mixes that I’ve made. It’s got a lot of jams in it. Very uplifting and fast mixing. I was inspired by a D-Minus mix, Definition of a Pretty boy. If you can find that mix, it’s pretty rad. Originally this mix was on the quiet side and I “remastered” it. So, it’s alot louder now and not so muddy sounding.

This was recorded live in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Definitely one of my favorite parties I’ve played at. It was a rocking party start to finish. I had to “remaster” this one as well because the first one I uploaded was way too bassy. So, hopefully this one sounds alot better.

I like this mix. I did it in one take and just played some tunes that I liked. I can’t remember if my turntables were pitched up then because the mix sounds kinda slow to me. It’s still pretty good and it’s a mix that seems to be quite popular with the kids.

DjSquiggles-Live at Sporties
This was recorded live at a dive bar that had dance music every Tuesday night. Back then I was part of a crew called MidwestNrg, not because we all played NRG, but because we played more fast tempo music then most of the other crews in town. For this night we decided to play as cheesy as we could. Obviously, no one knew me well enough to know that I would totally kick ass in this department. I played a lot of hardcore pop rip off’s and overall cheesy goodness. This is a classic Squiggles mix.
